How To Celebrate Your Anniversary
by Mary M. Alward
Always celebrate
your anniversary! This is a time to honor the love that you share
with your partner. It is a time to commemorate the hills and valleys
that you have conquered in your married life. It confirms your
commitment to your spouse and allows a glimpse into the future
and a look back into the past, especially to your wedding day.
There are
hundreds of ways to celebrate your anniversary. If you’ve
been together a number of years, consider renewing your vows.
If it is your first anniversary, this is a time to celebrate your
love and your first year together. Tenth, fifteenth and twentieth
anniversaries and all five year segments above that are milestones.
Be sure to celebrate accordingly.
Here are
a few ideas to help you celebrate your special day:
Wedding Day Memories
If you were
married in recent years, you probably had a video made of your
wedding day. Cuddle up on the couch and watch it. You’ll
be amazed at the small details that you’ve forgotten.
If you were
married before the days of wedding videos, take out your wedding
album and look through the photos of the big day. You will love
reliving the special memories.
Romantic Getaway
Go on a romantic
getaway whether it’s for a night, a weekend, or a full vacation.
Bed and breakfasts
are a perfect spot for a romantic weekend.
Try to choose one that is near a lake or other secluded area where
you can stroll hand in hand and enjoy each other’s company.
This makes the experience much more intimate.
Paint the Town
Invite your
spouse out on a date. Make reservation for a romantic candlelight
dinner and then go to a romantic movie or enjoy drinks in a secluded
corner of your favorite bar. Take a moonlight stroll along a beach
holding hands or go dancing in a romantic atmosphere. Whatever
you choose, find magic in your moments together.
Second Honeymoon
Take a second
honeymoon to a destination that you have both always wanted to
visit. Whether your trip is to an exotic destination or a rustic
cabin, it will allow you to enjoy intimacy in a special, private
setting.
Stay Home
Lock the
door, turn on the answering machine, build a fire in the fireplace,
and light aromatherapy candles to create a romantic atmosphere.
Cuddle up and share memories of your wedding day and discuss plans
for the future. Relax, laugh, kiss and enjoy each other’s
company.
Go on a Picnic
Get up in
the morning, pack a picnic hamper with your favorite foods and
head to a secluded spot in the country. A spot where a waterfall
cascades into a tranquil pool or a meadow where wildflowers bloom
is a perfect setting for an anniversary picnic.
In Conclusion
What is right
for your anniversary is totally up to you. Remember the most important
thing - enjoy each other’s company. A special date or just
quiet time together is the ticket to a memorable anniversary celebration.
